The League of Spain was suspended for at least two weeks because of the outbreak of the Coronavirus which occurred in the European country today after it became known that the Real Madrid squad in quarantine is.
"Given the circumstances known this morning relating to the quarantine in Real Madrid and the potential positive outcomes for players from other clubs, the league believes that the circumstances are in place to move on to the next phase of the Protocol of continuing action against COVID-19 "explained the brief.
In the statement, La Liga also stated: "As a result, in accordance with the measures set forth in Royal Decree 664/1997 of May 12, it agrees to suspend at least the next two days."
"This decision will be reevaluated after the end of the quarantine and other possible situations that may arise in the clubs concerned," concluded the document released on Thursday.
As reported, the Real Madrid squad is in quarantine because a basketball player has given a positive of Spanish unit for which the club has decided to take this action preventive for athletes of both disciplines, while the second division of Spain as well as the small divisions were blocked.
To date, more than 2,200 cases of Covid-19 have been diagnosed in the European country and at least 55 deaths since the outbreak of the coronavirus, which originates from the city of Wuhan in China.
